Terms of service
Last updated : May 17, 2026
1. Purpose
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern access to and use of the Janine service, an AI coach for deploying the circular economy, operated by Circulab and available at askjanine.ai (public marketing site) and app.askjanine.ai (authenticated app).
Using the service implies full acceptance of these Terms. If you do not accept all or part of these terms, you must refrain from using the service.
2. Description of the service
Janine is a conversational tool that answers user questions about the circular economy based on a proprietary content corpus curated by Circulab: circular business models, sourced academic papers, practitioner field reports, educational content and methodologies (Value Chain Canvas, Circular Canvas, Partner Map).
Access to the full corpus depends on the user's subscription tier (see pricing). A free trial is available to unauthenticated visitors, limited to 3 questions per day.
3. Account creation and management
3.1 Access conditions
Full functionality requires creating an account via our authentication provider Hanko (email + magic link or passkey). The user warrants the accuracy of the information provided.
3.2 Account security
The user is solely responsible for the confidentiality of their access credentials (email, passkey). Any use of the account is deemed to be made by the user. In case of suspected compromise, the user must immediately contact hello@circulab.com.
4. Pricing
Pricing terms are detailed on the pricing page. Subscriptions are monthly (beta program) or annual (Advanced plan). Payments will be processed by a third-party provider [TO FILL IN once payment provider is integrated — Stripe integration in progress], PCI-DSS compliant.
The beta program has no commitment and can be cancelled at any time from the user interface or by email. The annual plan does not auto-renew.
5. User obligations
The user agrees to:
- Use the service in accordance with its intended purpose — professional support on the circular economy;
- Not attempt to circumvent technical limitations (rate limiting, quotas, corpus access);
- Not use the service to generate illegal, defamatory, infringing or public-order-violating content;
- Not use the service for mass scraping, reverse engineering, or to train competing AI models;
- Not attempt to extract the content corpus or the Circulab methodological tools otherwise than through the conversational interface.
6. Intellectual property
6.1 Circulab content
Janine's content corpus, the methodologies (Value Chain Canvas, Circular Canvas, Partner Map), the source code, the interface, the visuals and the Janine trademark are the exclusive property of Circulab and protected by copyright, trademark law and the sui generis database right.
6.2 Generated answers
Answers generated by Janine are made available to the user for professional use. The user may quote these answers in their own deliverables, subject to respecting attributions of the third-party sources cited by Janine (papers, podcasts, case studies).
6.3 User content
The user retains ownership of the content they submit to Janine (questions, documents shared via the UGC feature). Circulab is granted a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process this content solely for service delivery. This content is never used to train the underlying AI models.
7. Limitation of liability
Janine is a decision-support and research tool, not a substitute for human professional judgment. Generated answers may contain inaccuracies, outdated information or extrapolations. The user remains solely responsible for decisions made based on the service.
Circulab uses best efforts to maintain the service available but does not warrant uninterrupted availability (planned maintenance, third-party incidents, force majeure). No compensation may be claimed in case of temporary interruption.
Circulab's liability shall not be engaged for indirect losses (loss of opportunity, loss of revenue, damage to image).
8. Personal data
Personal data processing terms are described in the privacy policy, compliant with GDPR.
9. Termination
The user may terminate their account at any time from the interface or by email to hello@circulab.com. Termination results in account and conversation history deletion within a maximum of 30 days.
Circulab reserves the right to suspend or terminate an account in case of substantiated breach of these Terms, after prior notification except in emergency (security incident, illegal content).
10. Changes to the Terms
Circulab reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Users are notified by email at least 30 days before substantial changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, the parties shall first attempt to find an amicable resolution. Failing that, the courts of Paris shall have sole jurisdiction.
